Sons and daughters of the 8th Infantry Division

By now you've probably read how my dad was in the 8th, and that started my great interest in military history. When I go to interview vets these days, I find that sadly they are really starting to go fast. The numbers for WW1 vets still living is very low, and within a very short time frame there will be no one left alive that fought with the 8th in WW2.

Over the years I've bumped into a few other "8th division brats." Last year I found a guy whose dad was in my dad's company, and he had some of his dad's letters with my dad's censor initial on them ! talk about something just being cool....

I've said before that it is not my place to start or run an 8th Div Association, as I never served in that unit. But... it has been suggested that we formalized an "informal" association of people who will continue to remember the 8th Division for not only the 75th anniversaries of WW2, but the 100th as well. So, if you had a dad, granddad, uncle or whatever it the 8th, go sign up for our mailing list.

Hell...! Dad'd be pleased.

If you want to get in on our email meetings about this, please sign up for the special "Sons of the 8th Division discussion list. Anyone is welcome, but please limit the discussion to the matter at hand.
