This is bullion patch with construction that looks like it is German from the early 1960's. On a normal screen this will appear lifesize (about 1 3/4" tall).

It has a combo 8th Div and 8th Div HQ design. The backing is silver metal with three clutch fasteners. Was it just a souvenier? or did it have a specific meaning? We're looking for the who, why, how and specifically WHEN of this patch. If you know, email us!

Dan W. says .... "I was with the 8th from 89 to 92 when we where redesignated the 1 AD. The patch in question was worn by squad or tank crews on their front pockets if they had achieved high test scores and did well on maneuvers. The patch was just for achievement."

Obviously for a parachute group- possibly a Divisional Club? Anyone able to date it?

Not a WW2 opatch. This is the post war 8th Recon patch.
