There's a lot of confusion about the correct insignia and motto for this unit. This insignia is for the post WW2 56th F. A. BRIGADE. Their motto was "night hides not." The shield is red for artillery. The searchlight beams and winged projectile symbolize the parent organizations (44th Coast Artillery and 506th Antiaircraft Artillery))
